NotifyLog — Notification History for Android

Your privacy is our priority. NotifyLog is designed with a privacy-first approach: your notification data stays on your device, and we make every effort to be transparent about how the app works. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices.

1. What Data We Collect

NotifyLog reads notifications delivered to your Android device to save them for your later review. Specifically, we collect:

App name and package name of the app that sent the notification
Notification title (sender name or subject)
Notification body (message text)
Timestamp of when the notification was received and dismissed
Whether the notification was cleared/removed and when

We do NOT collect:

Your personal name, email address, or any account credentials
Your physical location (no location permission is requested)
Your contacts, call logs, photos, files, or media
Passwords, payment information, or financial data
Notification content from apps you have whitelisted off
Biometric data, health data, or sensor data

2. Where Your Data Is Stored

All notification data is stored exclusively on your device in a local SQLite database. Your notification content never leaves your device.

The only network connections the app makes are to Google AdMob servers to display ads (see Third-Party Services section below). These connections do not transmit any of your notification content. We do not operate any servers, cloud services, or remote databases that receive your data.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected notification data solely to:

Display your notification history within the app
Allow you to search and filter past notifications
Group notifications by app for easier browsing
Detect when notifications are cleared/dismissed

We do NOT use your notification data for profiling, advertising targeting, analytics, or any form of behavioral analysis.

4. Data Retention

By default, notifications older than 7 days are automatically deleted from your device. You can change this in Settings → History Duration (options: 7 days, 30 days, or Forever).

You can delete all stored data anytime via Settings → Delete all data. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

5. Third-Party Services

NotifyLog uses the following third-party services:

Google AdMob (Advertising)

Purpose: Display banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads to support free development of the app
Data accessed: Advertising ID, IP address, general device information (model, OS version), approximate location based on IP address
Personalization: You can opt out of personalized ads via the consent dialog (EU/UK users) or by disabling ad personalization in your Google account settings
Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK

Purpose: Manage your consent for personalized advertising (GDPR/UK GDPR compliance)
Data accessed: Consent choices only — stored locally on your device

NotifyLog does NOT use:

Firebase Analytics or any analytics SDK
Firebase Crashlytics or any crash reporting service
Facebook SDK or any social media tracking
Any third-party data collection service beyond what is listed above

6. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your notification data with any third party. Your notification content stays exclusively on your device.

The only data transmitted from your device is the anonymized advertising-related data that Google AdMob collects (described in Section 5), which is independent of and unrelated to your notification content.

7. Notification Access Disclosure

NotifyLog uses Android's NotificationListenerService permission to read incoming notifications. This permission is required for the app's core function: logging notification history. Without it, the app cannot work.

How we use this access:

Read notification title, body, app name, and timestamp
Save this data to your device's local SQLite database
Detect when notifications are cleared or dismissed

How we do NOT use this access:

Send notification content to any server or third party
Share notification content with other apps
Use notification content for advertising or profiling
Read notifications from apps you have whitelisted off in Settings
Access notifications from password managers, banking, or other sensitive apps (if you whitelist them off)

You can revoke notification access anytime via Android Settings → Apps → Special access → Notification access → NotifyLog → Disable.

8. Permissions Used

Permission	Reason
BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE	Required to read incoming notifications and log them locally. This is the core functionality of the app.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED	Re-activates the notification listener after your device restarts, so you don't miss any notifications.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE	Keeps a small persistent notification to ensure the listener stays active in the background (required on aggressive battery-optimization devices like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo).
POST_NOTIFICATIONS	Declared for the foreground service status notification only. We do not send any other notifications.
INTERNET	Required by Google AdMob to serve ads. No notification data is transmitted over the internet.
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS	To request battery optimization exclusion so the notification listener is not killed by the system. You can decline this request.

9. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

View: All stored notifications are visible in the app
Export: Settings → Export my data — downloads a JSON file of all your data
Delete: Settings → Delete all data — permanently removes all stored data
Selective delete: Delete individual notifications, entire app categories, or by date range
Whitelist: Disable logging for specific apps in Settings → Logged Apps
Revoke: Disable notification access entirely in Android system settings

10. Region-Specific Rights

If you are located in the European Union (GDPR) or United Kingdom (UK GDPR):

Right to access, rectify, or erase your data
Right to object to processing
Right to data portability (use the Export feature in Settings)
Right to withdraw consent for personalized ads (UMP consent dialog)
Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

If you are located in California, USA (CCPA/CPRA):

Right to know what personal information is collected
Right to delete your personal information
Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data)
Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

To exercise these rights, use the in-app Settings → Delete all data or Settings → Export my data features, or contact us at the email below.

11. Children's Privacy

NotifyLog is not intended for users under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has been using the app, please contact us and we will help you delete all data from the device.

For users between 13–18, we recommend parental supervision when granting notification access, as notifications may contain personal communications.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Significant changes will be communicated via:

An in-app notification on next launch
Updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this document
Release notes in the Google Play Store

Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
